Barn Owl - Winter Guardian

March 27, 2015

Despite the fact that both Tawny and Little Owls are very common in and around our village, my favourite is still the Barn Owl - theres something just so magical about them! Like ghosts they appear out of no where at twlight.

Often on late journeys home at night, a Barn Owl will swoop down over the car and into the beam of my headlights, its not common but happens often enough for it to be a bit of a habit for the bird. I often wonder if the owl is using the head lights to help flush out any small mammals that might be afright of the car. Its just of thoses things that we will never know!
